Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge

I am having a blast with Close to my Heart's Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. I was excited when CTMH announced that we were getting this cartridge, and I knew I would use it, but I had NO IDEA I would use it all the time!

Here is a bag I recently made. I used the treat bag and put a black scallop oval bent over the top to make it a closure so now it looks like a cute little purse. You simply attach 1/2 of the oval to the back, score it at the top and bend it over the front. Then squish the sides a little towards the top. VERY EASY!

I made a quick flower on the Cricut and doneI used 2 stamp sets with this. The flourish is from out stamp set Instant Memories (C1466 $13.95) and the "you make me smile" is from our Hooray Bouquet (D1491 $17.95). Side note on the Hooray Bouquet...all the flowers in this set have Cricut images! So you can cut them out, stamp on them and you are done! No more hand cutting! YIPPEE!

February Group Layouts

It's February and this month my groups are making these layouts using Typeset. I really like this paper pack. It is so versatile.

I have made school layouts with it, a visit to grandpa's house, advisory board and the is other layout of my son and his cousin. I love how these 2 layouts look so different by using the back sides of our pattern paper.

Do you love your job? I DO! My job provides me with the opportunities to earn FREE incentive trips for 2!

Through Close to my Heart my husband & I have gone to Hawaii, Alaska (twice), Caribbean (both eastern & western) Mediterranean, New Zealand & the Mexican Riviera. I am also currently working on earning a Southern Caribbean cruise.

And the other day I got a box of GOODIES on my front porch! I love goodies, but they are even funner when you are not expecting them! I just figured it was an order. Once I opened it I went crazy! My goodie box for the Hawaiian Cruise we will be going on soon. Talents Passed Down

If you know me, you know I do a variety of crafts and today I wanted to pay tribute to the BEST GRANDMA EVER Grandma Lieske. She would ALWAYS do crafts with me. Every time we went over to visit, she had another craft to do. This is where I got my love for crafting. Here is a picture of her & my Grandpa on their 50th wedding anniversary.

And today I wanted to show you another craft I have (I don't just scrapbook...LOL). I also love to crochet! My Grandma knitted more then she crocheted, and trust me, if she were still alive today, she would be teaching me to be a better knitter! I am not that good at knitting...but I do love crocheting. Here is a picture of my Grandma crocheting and my cousin Carl put HIS sunglasses on her! LOL She was such a cool Grandma!

She was always doing some sort of craft (usually with yarn) and was bare foot a lot...hey...maybe that is where I get that from! LOL She would make afghans, sweaters, ponchos, scarves...you name it she did it and did it WELL! I am amazed at what she created! She had 8 Grandkids and we all got lots of

homemade stuff! Things we all treasure. But she also donated her creations too! She would donate afghans to her church or the senior center to raise money.

And here is how I am coming into the picture. I am making an afghan (nothing as amazing as hers) and donating it for a silent auction to raise money for Operation Smile!

But I have to say, it is pretty cool! Since it is a Close to my Heart function, I thought I would make this one with all the hearts on it! It's not done yet, but should be this week! I can't wait until it's done! My goal is to raise at least $240 (that is the cost to fix one smile of a child) with this afghan. I love that it is going to a good cause and I love the my Grandma's tradition will

continue through me!

Here's another afghan that she made. This one was for my son Cody. He was totally into Winnie the Pooh when he was little. She made the afghan and then crossed stitched on it.

I made one of these, but it had the Cubs logo on it and another one with the Sox's logo (can you tell I have baseball fans in my house) lol

Here's yet another one she made for me. This was for my 13th birthday. That is the age all the Grandkids gone one. WOW..that is an OLD afghan! LOL She was amazing!

If you have a Grandma or someone that is special to you that has a special talent that interests you, make sure you learn from them so you too can pass this talent down to your loved ones!

Heart Treat Box

This is a bonus post today! I just created this cute heart box. It is an image that is on our Cricut Cartridge (Close to my Heart's Art Philosophy Cartridge). Do you have it yet? If not...call me...if you do, get it out and use it! You will be glad you did!

I wanted it FAST AND EASY! So here it is. Oh wait...am I posting something with a piece of our NEW background and texture paper? LOL

I cut my box at 5 1/4" and the handle is 1/2 x 8. Very quick and easy. If you want to give a little something for Valentines day...give these a try.

Make the box out of any cardstock or pattern paper and fill with your favorite treat! I didn't fill mine...I JUST made this and wanted to get it posted!

When I go on trips...well...you know, I take a TON of pictures, then I get stressed because I have "a ton of pictures" to scrapbook. But I have found a cure for too many pictures!

Winter Card

Here is a fun card I made the other day. It is using our Wonderland paper and our Bundled Buddies (C1472 $13.95) This little beaver was just too fun not to use! In that set there are also an owl, fox, dear, raccoon, trees and words too. It is a great set!

In the close up picture you can see the glittery parts. I used our Glitter Glitz Gel Stardust

($2.75). I just LOVE this stuff! It goes on so easy with no left over glitter to get all over the place!

I even made sure his snowball had lots of glitter glitz gel on it too.

January Group Layouts

Here are the layouts that my monthly groups will be making in January. We are using our Wonderland kit. THIS IS A GREAT KIT! Even though we don't have any snow yet, we will soon OR you can use your photos from the last 2 years when we had nothing but snow! LOL

The first 2 layouts are from our workshop guide and the second 2 layouts are from our Magic How to Book and the layout is Secret.

I also cut the snowflakes out using our Cricut Cartridge and our Snowflakes stamp set (D1480 $17.95).

January Stamp of the Month

Here is our January Stamp of the Month. It is called Little Reminder. It is a fun set. The circle has all the months on it and you can circle the month in which you want the date to be. Then stamp the date in the middle.

On the pink card I stamped the 26th and circled January. That represents Brooke's birthday.

It also has 4 sentiments...Let's celebrate, a little reminder, you're invited, and welcome little one. It also has all the days of the week too.

There is so much you can do with this stamp set...but make sure you get it in the month of January, because after January you will not be able to get it!

Sweet Heart Gift

Do you know anyone that likes chocolate? Here is an easy gift to make. And you know Valentine's Day is coming up fast!

First I used our My Creations Card box (Z1647 $4.95).

6 1/4 x 4 1/4 plaid b&t from Roxie

6 1/4 x 1 Plaid

6 1/4 x 2 Tulip cardstock times 2

2 x 4 1/4 Tulip cardstock times 2

1 3/4 x 4 1/2 plaid times 2

1 x 3 1/2 zebra b&t times 6

6 circles 1 1/4" of linen b&t

I sponged the edges of the box with black.

The heart doily is 4" - it is on our Cricut Cartridge. The "chocolates" are the chinese take put boxes also from the Cricut Cartridge. Those are cut at 3" & 2 1/2". I took some of our stripe

ribbon to go on some of the "chocolates" and the white squiggles are made with our liquid appliqué. When you are making the chinese boxes, fold the top flaps in and adhere. Then glue them on the box upside down using liquid glass! How fun is this!

Here is the inside. I used Reese's peanut butter cup for the round ones, Ghiradelli squares (on the right) and nuggets (top left).

It's a fun and inexpensive gift for that special chocoholic in your life!

Wonderland Gift

Here is a gift that I sent to my friend Julie in Colorado! HI JULIE! lol

I used one of our My Creations cubes (Z1152 $4.95). I cut the top off and then decorated it using our Wonderland paper! I put some scrunchy paper in it, with a bag full of color

coordinating candy! It was fun to decorate! And hopefully fun to get!

When you are looking to give gifts, remember to give homemade gifts! They are the best!

Make Your Own Christmas Tags!

Need some quick tags...here is a great idea for making your own tags using our Cricut Cartridge.

I did make my tags this year...I know I am crazy...but it was a couple weeks ago when life wasn't so crazy! LOL I matched my tags to the wrapping paper! I found this GREAT wrapping paper and knew I could create matching tags.

I simple loaded up the Cricut, selected my image and set "auto fill" and it cut a whole page! Then I assembled them when I was on hold, or on a call...whenever I could multi task! It worked great. Then I stamped To/From with our white pigment ink and I will write the names using our white marker. Very fun!

Rock the Block

I posted the video in my last blog post...here are my Rock the Block pictures. They are very fun to play with.

On my blocks I put a picture on all 6 sides. Now, I like how it turned out, but to do it all over again, I think I will just put pictures on 2 sides of the blocks. If you set it up at an angle, you are good, but if you lay them down like on a table, then you see the sides of the blocks and the other pictures. So, I will only put pictures on 2 sides next time.

These blocks will be in our New Spring Summer catalog (coming February 1st...YIPPEE) for $14.95...but if you get this special you can get the blocks, tray AND the E size stamp set for just $15 with a $25 purchase.

Add Some Glitz to Your Layout

Here is a layout that I re-created based on one our corporate office did. It is using our Believe paper pack and our Flurries Dimensional Elements. They are chipboard snowflakes that I put some of our Stardust Glitter Glitz Gel on. I just LOVE how it makes those snowflakes glitter.

I also used our Snow Flurries stamp set (page 74 of the current catalog) to make it look like the cold wind blowing over the paper. I just stamped it in our white pigment ink, put some clear embossing powder over it and then heat set it. I also edged the paper with the white stamp pad to give it a little extra snow. I really am hoping that is the ONLY snow we get this year.

Now I have a little snow storm going on in my pages. LOL I hope to not be able to put pictures on this page for a while! LOL Maybe I better look in last years pictures and add them to this layout.

December Stamp of the Month

It's time for my December stamp of the month samples. Here are a few cards, a box and a layout that I created using Mad About You.

I feel this set was designed to use for Valentines Day cards. And I did make one card, but I wanted to show different uses for these stamps...so I created a box you can put goodies in that says, "you're sweet" and a card that says, "mad about you". These can be used for every day. The box is a pillow box I created using our Cricut Cartridge. YEA! It's so fun!

Then I made this cute baby layout using paper from our Wonderland kit. When I saw this paper, not only did I see winter, but I also saw baby! So I took our December Mad About You stamp set and created this layout.

How appropriate is "Over the moon in love with you" for pictures of your new baby! Then I used our newsprint rub ons for "welcome little one". I have to tell you I really really love these rub ons! Every time I put them away, I find myself pulling them back out! LOL I think I will just leave them out! The heart is from the stamp of the month and then the giraffe is from our Zoology stamp set. It also has a lion, elephant and a cute little hippo in it. It is on page 30 of our Autumn/Winter 2011 catalog. And, it's only $9.95. This is a must for all those pictures of your "little ones". Not to mention for a trip to the zoo!

Customize your Pattern Paper

Ever wish you had just the right pattern paper in just the right color? Well you can! Just use STAMPS!

These cards here are using our Two Step Background stamps. They are in our Spring/Summer catalog on page 92. I also used our Remarkable Wreath stamp set on page 88 of our current catalog.

I just took one of the background stamps and stamped it, then took the other stamp that is the second stamp and got a coordinating color and stamped it over the first one. Very cool, very easy and now you can have whatever color cards you want! The colors combinations are endless! If you have this stamp set...get it out and start creating!

Scrapbooking in Pink!

FINALLY I get to scrapbook in PINK! lol

Last year I was on the Close to my Heart Advisory Board and we had a meeting in Park City Utah. They spoiled us, worked us hard and even bought us PRESENTS! One of the gifts we got was matching PINK pj's! Here we are posing of the camera in our jammies! I just got around to scrapbooking these pictures and found that I had some extra pieces of our Sophia kit. So I took some scraps from Sophia and off I went. USING WHAT I HAD! YIPPEE! I love it when I can consume it and not collect it. Paper does get dated, so you want to use it up. And, I don't want to have to find more storage for all these extra paper kits I have...so I USE IT UP!

The other layout is of the matching shirts CTMH gave us. I LOVE this color. And that photographer followed us everywhere! LOL We did get some cool pictures from him. This layout I used our Typeset kit (again using leftovers). I stamped a flourish in desert sand on it too.

I really like how you can take a kit and make something totally different with it then what you think. This kit has large alphabets and letters on 2 of the sheets, but I used the other side and this is the outcome.

So remember, get out those 1/2 finished kits and FINISH THEM! You don't want to add on to your house because you have too much paper!! lol

Snowman Candy Bar Holder

Need a cute quick idea that holds CHOCOLATE? Here it is. This cute snowman candy bar holder. It holds a Hershey's chocolate bar.

Here's how to make it. Take a piece of white cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 6.

On the 5 1/2 side, score it at 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 3 3/4", 4". I used our All Decked Out stamp set (page 75 of our current catalog). This stamp set has 29 pieces of the snowman in it. I stamped the white cardstock with the snowman pieces. Adhere the bottom and back, crimp the bottom and you are ready to dress your snowman.

The scarf is just coordinated ribbon but the hat...it's a baby sock! YES! A baby sock.

What I did was cut the toe part off (just a little bit so you don't lose the length) then I cut little slices and tied it in the middle so it looks like a hat. The elastic for the top of the sock becomes that bottom of the hat. Too cute huh!

Then I put my candy bar in it and ready to give to a favorite friend! Make some for your chocolate loving friends!

Personalize it!

Have you ever looked for the perfect paper to scrapbook your memories? Here's a way to personalize your pages. On these Cranberry & Black pages, I wanted to make some Nebraska Football pages. Nebraska football is VERY popular here. So I took a set of football stamps and stamped white cardstock. But I also wanted to make it even more personal but adding the word "Nebraska". Did you know Close to my Heart makes personalized stamps? They do! So I had one made that said "Nebraska". How cool is that! I just stamped "Nebraska" just above the Football stamp and now it says, Nebraska Football. You can do it with whatever you have.

Do you have volleyball stamps? Baseball stamps? Hockey? Etc. Then get a personalized stamp that says your team name, or the school your child goes to. How about getting one with your child's name on it! The possibilities are endless!

This other page I made one with a local schools name on it and stamped white cardstock with baseballs all over it. Very fun and NOT very expensive at all! Personalized stamps start at just $5.95.

November Monthly Group Layouts

If you are in one of my monthly groups, these are the pages we will be making this month. We are using our Dreamin kit which is perfect for those fall and Thanksgiving pages.

I just love fall, the colors are so beautiful and the weather is great.

That fall crisp air, perfect for sitting out by the fire pit making Smores. I think I am going to take some pictures of that for these layouts!

November Stamp of the Month

It's time for the new stamp of the month and here it is. It's called Cherish the Day. I wasn't sure I was going to like this one very much, but once I started to use it, I LOVE IT! They are rectangle stamps one for each month. Then we have all the numbers too. So you stamp the rectangle with the month on it, then stamp the date in the circle area. I like to stamp the date in a different color so it really stands out.

If you look at my Santa card, you will see an arrow. I cut that arrow using...yes, you guessed it...our CTMH Cricut Cartridge!! And also the tags too! Can you see that I am using the Cricut Cartridge A LOT! lol And as a little sneak peak, the top left card is also using the December stamp of the month! Too cool!

Here is my favorite. The layout I made using our Thanksgiving stamp set. This is not what I set out to make, but I really love how it turned out. I also cut some leaves and branches with the cartridge. If you look at the close up picture of the pilgrims...on the branch there...I even cut the branch of that leafy branch using the cartridge! Dang...that cartridge has EVERYTHING on it! lol But a little warning...the branch is VERY delicate...so pull it off your mat carefully. I ruined 2

before I got all that I needed.

The other cool thing

about this stamp set is

you can use your CTMH Cricut Cartridge to cut a "ticket" shape that fits these shapes. I didn't use it in these samples, but the stamps are marked and tells you how big to cut it if you choose to use it.

Halloween Ideas

I had this cute little cat in my box of Halloween decorations. He is made out of wood and is very cute, but I decided he needed a banner! LOL So I took my dimensional elements banner (these are the small ones that come on one sheet see page 130 of the catalog) and as a bonus, if you have our Cricut cartridge, you got them with it! So pull them out! Then you cut your patterned paper using your Cricut cartridge (or you can hand cut them if you don't have the cartridge yet) and decorate with ribbons, stamps etc.

I stamped the bat on the first E and I put a stamped spider with a licorice opaque for his behind. Then put him on the K. The letters I used are from the Dimensional Elements Monograms. (also on page 130 of the catalog)

I love to add my personal touch to things I already have.

It's Pumpkin Carving Time!

It's time for another photo op at the Froemming's!

Saturday we decided to carve pumpkins. Who said it was only for little ones!

So Cody & Brooke came over for dinner and we brought out the pumpkins. I wanted to do an initial pumpkin...so that is what I worked on, Stacey made an owl pumpkin because for some reason I am crazy about owls right now. Cody made the scary face one and he had a little pumpkin stuck in his mouth! That was very funny, but the picture didn't come out as good. And Brooke made the skeleton one. Hers was the most detailed and time consuming. I really liked them all, but I think hers was my favorite!

Now I need to get these developed and on layouts!! This is a fun time of year where you can get some fun pictures! So take some time to get those great pictures and then make sure you TAKE the time to preserve them! I do have a crop coming up, so get those picture taken, developed and scraped! Watch for these pictures on layouts coming soon!

Fall Banner

I am so in love with our banners! Here is another one I made using our Dreamin kit. I stamp lifted it from someone...but I can't find who, but I was so in love with it, I had to make one of my own.

I used our Cricut Cartridge to cut the banner shapes, the flowers, leaves and then added Dreamin stickease, Harvest Charms, dimensional elements letters and buttons. Can you see why I am using our Cricut Cartridge so much! There is just so much to do with it!

So now is your turn. Get some of our My Creations banners and start creating! They are so much fun to make!

Scallop Card Treat Bag

I am going crazy creating these cute little treat bags! They were inspired by a fellow CTMH consultant, Pam O'Connor...and I ran with her idea! They are so much fun!

They are made with our 6 x 6 Kraft Die-Cut cards (Z1474 10 for $6.95...see page 123 of our catalog). YES I turned our cards into a treat bag and with minimal supplies...this is what I came up with.

First you take the card and open it up. It has that cute little scallop edge on it already! HANDY! So you open the card, but keep the scallop part folded over facing down on your Cricut mat. Oh, did I tell you, you get the oval by cutting it with your Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge! YOU DO! So put the card down on your mat with the scallop fold on your left. Then set your size to 2 1/2". Now you will need to move your blade to the following position. Left/Right 1 3/4" and the In/Out to 0 11/16. This is where you manually move the blade...watch your screen for the left/right and in/out position...it will come up as you move the blade. I used the Oval 3 on page 42 of the Cartridge book. Cut. Then take it off the mat and score 1 inch on both sides of the score line to have the bag stand up. Then just decorate with your favorite stamps and paper and tada!

I was having so much fun, I had to create on for Halloween, Christmas and Winter! HOW FUN ARE THESE! You simply add a baggie filled with your favorite treat and give to a special friend, teacher, coworker etc. So order your Kraft cards and get started making these great treat bags soon! You just never know when you will need some!

Halloween Group Layouts

It's time for Halloween! And my October groups will be making these 4 pages this month. We are using our Mischief kit. I really like this kit. I guess I am in the mood for fall!

Each year we sit on our driveway on Halloween and hand out treats by our fire pit. We usually need that to keep us warm. We also have a little buffet and some wine to help with keeping us warm. Some of our neighbors even join us. It is fun to sit by the fire and hand out treats to all those trick or treaters.

I also took the last two pages and make them exactly the same except for putting our Mischief rub ons with a fall theme. That is for those of you who don't do Halloween. This just shows you how versatile our kits are.

October Stamp of the Month

It's October already, and this month we have an AMAZING stamp of the month! It is called Holiday Magic and has Christmas trees, Stockings and even Santa's sleigh!

I used our Believe papers along with the October stamp of the month. This kit is not only great for Christmas cards and layouts, but it also works great for winter theme layouts and cards.

My favorite however has to be the card with Santa and his sleigh. How cute is he! The sleigh is from our stamp of the month and Santa is from our Workshop kit on page 55 of the catalog. I just LOVE him!

I also used some of our Twinkle brads. They are now discontinued, but if you have some in your stash, get them out and use them! I love to use what I have! In fact I went crazy and used all of what I had! That is good and bad. Good that I am no longer storing them, but bad that they are all gone. But, I am ok with it. We have other cool bling in our new catalog.

So check your stash, find out what you have that will go perfect with this stamp set. Get them out and get ready to order this set starting tomorrow!

Cherish Your Memories!

Today is a hard day. It would have been our son Grant's 28th birthday. He died in a car accident 12 years ago and we miss him terribly! But I do have pictures and will always have those memories!

Here is a perfect memory that just makes me smile! It was Cody's 10th birthday (1996) and Grant was helping him make his treats for school. They were making dirt cakes. And of course, Grant had to be the comedian and wear the flowers. I just love this picture. It shows how funny Grant was with just normal every day items. Who said boys don't have flower layouts! LOL I am glad I have these memories and the pictures to help me remember them all. Make sure you preserve your memories!

Spooky Banner

I love this banner! I stamp lifted it right out of our catalog. It is on page 49...but the picture doesn't do it justice! I saw it in person at convention and knew I had to recreate it.

I used our dimensional elements My Creations Banner. They are chip board pennant that I covered with our background & texture paper from our Mischief kit. You can trace around the pennant, but I used our Cricut Cartridge to cut it. You get 8 pennants for just $5.95. You can create these banners for any occasion. Your kids rooms, holidays, baby showers...anything.

Here are just 2 of the pennants up close...they we so fun to make!

If you trace & cut them yourself, you can get 3 pennants per piece of 12 x 12 pattern paper, but I chose to use the Cricut cartridge (why not!) and you can get 2 per 12 x 12 paper. That's ok...I was ok with getting one less per paper and not have to cut it by hand. This cartridge is spoiling me! LOL

If you want to cut these pennants you will need to change the settings to 1/10th and then put the setting at 6.80. This will cut them our perfectly. All you have to do is punch a hole and you are done.

Crop Layout

Every other month I host a crop. Part of the crop fee they get a 2 page layout that I create and cut all the piece for and they assemble the pieces and they are DONE with 2 pages.

Last Saturday I had a crop and this is the layout they made. I cut that big leave out with our new Cricut Cartridge. I also cut the word FALL and the smaller leaves... and I also stamped on them. That is the great thing about our Cricut Cartridge...it has coordinating stamp images that you can stamp right on the cut out and add more pizzazz to them.

You & Me

Did you get one of our You & Me kits back in May & June? It was our special and I just loved it. I forgot to post this layout earlier, then it occurred to me that some of you might not have gotten yours created yet.

So dust it off and pull it out and use it! I think I might have an extra one or two, so if you would like one, email me and I will get one to you.

I used this for my birthday pictures! Our old (not in age) neighbors came back into town and Nancy & I went to the movies, then met the "boys" at Cheeseburger in Paradise for some drinks before we went to dinner. Here are the pictures of those funny drinks. It's amazing how our paper even goes with the colors of my DRINK! lol

I put a banner across the first page and put our Mocha Opaques Adhesive Gems and put one between each pennant. This paper just makes me happy! I am glad I got a couple extras for me too!

Here is my challenge for you. Get out this kit and make all the pages by the end of the month! Let's get creating!

Make Your Own Pattern Paper

Have you ever needed just the right pattern paper, but you couldn't find it or the colors just weren't right?

With stamps, you can make your OWN pattern paper. This is what I did here in this layout.

As part of my team, each quarter we get together and spend the day doing whatever we want to do. It can be creating for ourselves, for the next workshop or even for our next group. It is a lot of fun and I try to have a theme.

This time I found these very cute plates & napkins, but I didn't have any pattern to match...but have not fear, I created it myself using stamps!

I took several of our stamp sets out and started to create this layout. I also stamped 2nd generation (this is when you ink your stamp, then stamp on scrap paper and without inking it again you stamp on the paper. This gives you a light version of that same image) so I can put the title here. See how the leaves look lighter? Then I stamped "CREW" over it.

So remember if you are creating something specific, then you will want to pull out your stamps and really personalize your layout!

I used our Wishes How to Book and the card name is Simply Said. I also used Hooray Bouquet stamp set (D1491) and I cut the flower images out with our NEW Cricut cartridge - Art Philosophy. Cute Halloween Treat!

I know it is a little early for Halloween, but it is NEVER too early to start creating cute treats for all those little ghosts & goblins.

It is a quick and easy treat holder. I put Hershey kisses in it, but you can also put Nuggets in them. Here's how to make it. Take a piece of 4 1/2 x 4 1/4 cardstock. I used our Pear cardstock. On the 4 1/2 side, score it at 1 1/4, 2 1/2 & 3 3/4. I stamped the outside using the diamond from our All Hallows Eve stamp set (C1462). I stamped it in Topiary. It wasn't as dark as the Pear. I then stamped the scrolly stamp on top of the diamond using Grey Wool. Sponged the edges and folds with black. The scallop is from our NEW Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. It's the scallop from page 62 of the Cricut book and I cut it at 1 inch. I used the one with the holes in it, but ended up putting the holes behind the cardstock.

I also used Captured Moments stamp set (C1423) for the ghost image. It was quick and easy and I have to say DARN CUTE! I put some adhesive on the bottom to hold the Hershey kisses in place.

It's never too early to start making your Halloween treats!! Give this one a try!

New Car Layout

I was scrapbooking the other day and decided to use our Lucky Paper Pack for the pictures of my son's new car. Not only were the pictures fun to scrapbook...because getting a new car is very fun, but the paper pack is one of my favorites!

It is VERY versatile! Not only do I love the paper pack but I used a new stamp set called Vintage Type (D1481 $17.95). It's very cool. I didn't use the alphabet with this set, I used the pennants (see them in the upper left corner of the first page and the lower right of the second)

from this set. Pennants are VERY popular right now in the scrapbooking world.

Here's a REAL cool part of this. The pennants (and the tag in this set) also have a setting on our Cricut cartridge so you can tell it to cut a bunch of pennants (or tags). That means NO CUTTING by hand! YIPPEE! Even though I do like to cut, but I think I will like having the Cricut cut LOTS for me! lol This will enable me to embellish even more!

The other thing I like about this layout is the Newsprint Rub-ons (Z1388 $ 8.95). I used them on the right side and it says, "my new car". I really like these rub-ons. They look like little tiny pieces from your newspaper...but you don't have to cut these out...just rub them on!

Scrapbook Page Pops with Flowers

Another Great Mail Day

I recently went to the mail box and found a box from my friend Julie. In that box was this ADORABLE card! I never thought of bees and cute...but now STINKIN CUTE is this card! I love it! So I thought I would post it here on my blog.

Julie used our Wishes How to Book and the card is Gallery. The stamp set is Bee Happy (B1374 on page 50 of our current catalog). DANG IT...now I am going to have to buy this stamp set!! lol

She used color pencils to color the bee and flower.

Ever time Julie has to mail me something, she includes an adorable card. I think I am going to leave stuff at her house so she has to mail me stuff more often! LOL But this is a GREAT reminder to always stamp a cute card for our friends! So next time you have your stamps out, make a bunch of cute cards so you have a stash handy!

Summer Fun

Have your kids set up a lemonade stand yet this year? If so...here is a GREAT layout to do with those pictures. BUT, if they have not had a lemonade stand...time to "dress them accordingly" LOL, take the electronics out of their hands and get them outside enjoying that fresh air and having fun selling lemonade! Then you can make this cute layout! LOL

I used our Magic how to book and the layout is called Raise the Curtain. The polka dot b&t paper is from our Sophia kit and then I stamped the lemons on white cardstock using our You're Sweet (B1351) stamp set! Remember, if you can't find the perfect paper...MAKE YOUR OWN! This is a great way to customize your layouts! I didn't have lemon paper so I grabbed my stamps and made my own. I also used our Pennant Alphabet to make the title. How cute it that! LOL Other stamps used were Over the Rainbow (D1426) stamp set and Splendid Day (D1462).

So next time you need that "perfect" paper and don't have it...remember you can make your own with stamps!

Purge Those Magazines

Do you have scrapbooking, stamping, craft or any other magazines piling up? It is easy to get lots and lots of these, but here is a solution to keeping your magazines in control.

First...remember that crafting or any kind of magazines do get dated. If you look back (and I say IF you look back) you will see how dated they are and will probably never use those ideas. So, what you need to do is keep a full years magazines...then when the next one arrives, pull the oldest one out and recycle it. Then you will always just have 1 years supply.

If you know, once you look at it, that you will never look at it again, recycle it right away. You can throw it in the recycle bin, but why not share them with your friends. If you all subscribe to a different magazine and all switch after you read it, then you will get the benefit of getting several magazines for just one low price and save a lot of trees!

I also get those plastic magazine holder to keep them in. I put a piece of patterned paper in the front of it to make that clear plastic holder pretty. Dress up your magazine holders and put them in your bookshelf.

So take a little time to go through your magazines and purge. Once you purge them...keep them to a years worth. Your house will be happy you did!

Canvas Badge Buttons

I just love new products and this is one of our newest...they are plain canvas buttons that are self adhesive. You can sponge them, stamp on them...whatever you want.

Here I made this layout of my son's birthday last month. He is now 25, but will ALWAYS be my baby...so I pulled out our Token Alphabet and stamped on the badge buttons with Chocolate ink. Then I took the cross hatch stamp also from the Token Alphabet and stamped over the letters in Olive. You can just barely see it in this picture, but in person you can really see them well.

This layout was created using our You & Me special paper...and if you still want this paper pack...you can still get it, but once June is over...it will no longer be available. Fathers Day Scrapbook Page

If you know me, you know I LOVE to USE WHAT I HAVE! So here is a new layout using some OLD paper! This b&t (patterned) paper is from our Free Spirit kit from long ago. But I had some extras and I needed an idea for my recent crop, so this is the outcome. A GREAT layout for Father's Day. So if you came to my crop...you already have your layout DONE! YEAH!

I used our Imagine How To Book and the In The Groove layout. Very easy layout to create and if I have to say so myself, a VERY CUTE layout! I just LOVE the airplane with the message behind. You can put any message you want! Those stamps are from our Splendid Day stamp set. It is very fun! The possibilities with this set is endless.

Here I did a close up of the title and the box at the bottom of the right page. I popped up both the tree and the airplane and also put a silver brad by the propeller of the airplane. Simple little details that add so much!

So see if you have this paper left over, pull it out and recreate this layout. If you don't have this paper, recreate it using ANY paper combination! Quick and easy layouts. Gotta love that!

It's a Good Mail Day!

Have you ever gone to your mailbox and ran back to the house to rip open a package that came for you? This is what I did a couple weeks ago when this came in the mail.

I got a package for my birthday from my Colorado friend JULIE! YEAH JULIE! I couldn't get in the house fast enough to rip into it! In fact I think it was 1/2 open before I hit the doorway! LOL

She made this AMAZING card...see below using our Fanfare kit! How fun it that card! Then I opened the wrapped package with the card and found this amazing little scrapbook! How fun. Here is a picture of it closed and above it is opened. It has all these amazing pockets with cards that pull out. I can't wait to get some pictures in this!

So...the moral of the story is...if you can create something amazing, mail it to a friend...you will MAKE THEIR DAY! Julie sure made MY day!

I just LOVE our June stamp of the month! It is called Jubilation. They come with all these round stamps (and accent stamps) that work great with our 1 1/4 circle punch.

The stamps in this set are a variety of holidays and season stamps. From summer, fall and even some Christmas stamps. This stamp set is ONLY available in June, so if you want it...make sure you order it before the end of June.

I really like this SPOOKY card. I stamp lifted it from my friend Julie! HI JULIE! We used our lucky kit for the paper and it works PERFECT. Who would have thought we can use our Lucky kit for Halloween. IT WORKS!

Who knows...you just might find that you can get a head start on your holiday cards! I know...making Christmas cards in JUNE! lol Who would have thought!

Blue Man Group Layout

In February we were on a cruise and we were fortunate to see the Blue Man Group...and here is the layout I made. I wanted to point out a couple things about this layout. First I used our Designer Canvas Buttons. I found a smiley face and stamped it in Blue on the button and now I have a "blue man group" button.

Then I used our On This Day stamp set. This is the one I talked to you about a few weeks ago on how I have been layering these. You can see it in both of the blown up pictures. There was also a You Tube video on this blog showing these too. So if you missed it, scroll down and check them out!

See the "admit one" on the side of this picture. They are fun to stick behind things!

I love the versatility of stamps! You don't have to use the WHOLE stamp...maybe just part of it. You can turn the stamp to get different parts of the image...and this is just what this You Tube video that Close to my Heart made shows us. Happy Birthday to ME!

We made this cake (below) at our recent unit meeting. We took the idea from the incredibly talented Tracy Mason.
I have to say...they are so FUN to make.

So I decided...I was going to make another one that will match the layout, that will match the clothes I wore on my birthday. Yes, yesterday was my birthday! YEAH for me!

The paper on the cake on the right is our Sophia paper and then I brushed some of our create a shade paint over it to give that shimmer look.

The one that matches my layout (the one on the left) is from our new paper pack You & Me. It is the special paper pack for the month of May...there is still time to get it! If you want one, call me soon so we get it for you before the end of the month.

We also made those awesome paper flowers and topped them off with a pearl opaque in the middle. All in all, they took me about 2 hours (each) to make. I invested some time, used scraps I had and had fun making them and it turned into an amazing outcome!

Graduation Card

What do you do when you need to make a Graduation Card, but you don't have any graduation stamps? NO, you don't go buy one! You USE WHAT YOU HAVE! This is exactly what happened to me this last weekend.

We had a graduation to go to and no graduation stamps. So I grabbed a couple stamp sets with words like Way to Go, Congratulations, Nice job. I was surprised how many stamps I had that had those words in them.

I then grabbed the invitation so I could make the card using the school's colors...which in this case was black, blue and silver. I also took a "G" from our chip board letters and stamped on it. Then an alphabet stamp and TADA graduation card!

So remember, always check to see what you have before you run out and "buy" a card. Oh and of course I used some silver accents I have a TON of...see you too can USE WHAT YOU HAVE! Or as Close to my Heart likes to call it...consume, not collect! Either way, you are using those supplies you have! Enjoy your stash!

Studio J Tutorial

School Days

I got this idea from Close to my Heart. I love it. I took our Photo Storage Pages and created this Table of Contents for my son's school album. We have both vertical and horizontal storage pages. Here you see the horizontal ones. They are 4 x 6. I just cut cardstock to fit, decorated it and added his pictures on it by the grade. Fast fun and simple!

Now I need to do the rest of the years! LOL

You can even create one of these for baby's first year. How fun would that be? Month one, month two...etc.

There are many possibilities using our photo storage pages...give it a try!

Let's Use Those Scraps!

You know me...I need to use all those scraps, so just the other day I pulled out my Olivia scraps and started to create. I actually was able to make 4 - 2 page layouts before I got tired...LOL just using my scraps. And, I still have a ton of scraps left. Looks like a lot of cards are in my future.

So grab that old kit, one of our How To Books and start making some layouts or cards.

It is always fun to use what you have. We need to get better at consuming and not at collecting! And as a bonus, we get our pictures scrapbooked too. Give it a try. HINT...grab your OLDEST pack first and use it up first!

Never Too Old To Love Dirt Cake?

Long ago, I made dirt cake for my boys. Yes I even had worms in my dirt cake. Ok...so they were gummy worms that I rolled in the ground up Oreos (so they looked like they had dirt on them) but they were worms!

The pictures below are from Cody's 10th and 11th birthday. This year Cody turned 25 and requested my famous Dirt Cake! REALLY? I was SHOCKED! I thought we were done with Dirt Cake. But Sunday night I made it for his birthday (see first 2 pictures) and it was a HIT! To my surprise, it was a hit with the adults too! Crazy! I even served it with a trowel. Well, Cody grabbed it and "dug in"...LOL!

See, who says if you have boys you can't scrapbook with flowers! And Grant felt like he should put them "in his hair". My boys are crazy!

Do you want my Dirt Cake recipe? Here it is...

This required refrigeration over night.

1 package of Oreos - chop well in food processor

1/2 stick butter

8 oz cream cheese

3/4 cup powder sugar. Cream the butter, cream cheese and powder sugar

2 small packages instant vanilla pudding

2 3/4 c milk. Combine the pudding and milk. Combine butter, cream cheese and power sugar mixture to pudding.

12 oz cool whip - fold into the mixture.

1 package gummy worms

I put thin layers in a glass bowl or individual clear cups. Start with Oreos and end with Oreos. I add some gummy worms on each layer. I also first get the gummy worms a little wet...just a little and then roll them in the Oreos. This will make them look like the worms are full of "dirt".

Put fake flowers in bowl. Serve with a trowel. The kids like this and even were a little grossed out by the worms! LOL Enjoy!

From Scraps to Birthday Cards!

If you know me, you know I love to USE WHAT I HAVE...in fact all last year I was dedicated to USING WHAT I HAD in all areas of my life.

From my pantry, my closets to my scrapbooking supplies. It was a GREAT way to consumer your products you already have.

So today I am doing the same with this card. I saw a similar card that Close to my Heart made...and I thought...hey...I have a bunch of those flowers, and some shimmer brads and ribbon. So I got out my extra b&t paper, some scraps of cardstock and TADA! Beautiful card and I used what I had and now I have extra birthday cards! Which is good because I was all out.

I like to have a stash of them on hand so I don't forget any of those birthdays.

So dig into your supplies and create your own stash of birthday (or whatever occasion) cards...and USE WHAT YOU HAVE! It feels so good! LOL

On This Day Layout

If you stopped by my blog last Tuesday, you saw the video that Close to my Heart created using the On this Day stamp set. Here is the layout I created...well...CTMH came up with the idea and I changed it slightly...if you know me you know that is pretty normal for me to change things up a bit.

So I took the On This Day set and layered it behind the Epic Adventure circle. I have been really into the layering look and this stamp set works well for that! Give it a try!

This video that Close to my Heart made is using one of my NEW favorite stamp sets! I LOVE this set! I have been using it on cards and most recently on my Eastern Caribbean Cruise pages. I use them for layering behind pictures and accents. I really haven't used it for the date! LOL So many uses for this set...check it out on this video!

Scraplifted!

I recently saw a layout in our Spring/Summer Idea Book (page 4) that I just thought was so cool. So...I scraplifted it. Here is my version of that layout. It is from our Magic How To Book and the layout is called Juggling Act.

I used our Lucky kit...which is my absolute favorite right now and some pictures of my son when he was about 4...he will soon be 25. Where did time go? This is one GREAT reason why I scrapbook. If these pictures were in a box, I would have never found them and better yet, I would have never relived the memory.

So I encourage you to get out those pictures, relive your memories and scrapbook it!

Studio J Tutorial

Close to my Heart has made this video showing you how to use our Studio J online scrapbooking. You have heard me talk about it a lot lately on my blog and I wanted to put this You Tube Video out here so you can see for yourself. This video shows you the most simplistic way to get started. I will show you how to do so many other cool things with it.

Studio J can do so much...including whitening your teeth (really!) changing your pictures to sepia or black and white, adding mats, and totally customizing your layouts just to name a few. April Stamp of the Month

Here is our April stamp of the month. I had fun making a few samples with this set. At first I just saw "wedding" and I didn't have any wedding stuff to make with it. Then my friend Julie (hi Julie!) showed me some samples she made using it for spring. And I do like what I came up with..thanks to Julie! LOL

Here is a layout using it and I created a flower using our Scallop punch that I folded in half. Just gives you a different look. I also used our Mayberry kit for this layout.

Then I did make a 3 x 3 wedding card using our Bliss kit. The other cards are also using our Mayberry kit.

Classic Scrapbooking versus Studio J online Scrapbooking

Here are some layouts that I have completed using our Mayberry kit and pictures from our recent cruise. These are classic scrapbooking...meaning I cut, glued and stamped. This first layout is using our Cherish How to Book and the layout is Echos. This is us in St. Maarten kayaking. It was beautiful.

The next layout is in St. Thomas when we went to the beautiful Trunk Bay. WOW! If you have a chance to go, do so! The sand is the second best sand I have ever been on. The first is on Seven Mile Beach in the Grand Caymans. But this was beautiful! This layout was using our Imagine How to Book and the layout is Powerful Trio.

So, you have heard me talk in the past about our Studio J online scrapbooking. Well, now I am going to show you some layouts I recently made.

At the end of February we went on our Eastern Caribbean cruise...now it is important to remind you that I have 5 past cruises that I have not completed the my scrapbooking.

My son Cody and his girlfriend Brooke went with us. For Brooke's birthday I promised her to scrapbook the trip for her. Now did you remember when I said I am 5 cruises behind (not to mention this one now so that makes 6 and regular pictures do...need I go on? LOL) So I knew the ONLY way I was going to get Brooke's scrapbook done is if I scrapbooked it using Studio J.

These 3 layouts were created on Studio J. I am so excited to say that I am about 1/2 way FINISHED with Brooke's album! And I am happier to say I have invested about 4 hours doing them. WOW! I have also loaded all the rest of the pictures and layouts into Studio J...now all I have to do is put the pictures on the layouts, journal and put the finishing touches on them. This should take me about another 4 -6 hours. And just in case you think I have only done a page per day...nope. The ice bar pictures alone I did 3 - 2 page layouts. Her scrapbook will be fun...and it will be finished SOON!

So if you have a project that you need to get done like past cruises/trips, baby books, graduation books etc, then we need to talk about Studio J. This is the answer for getting it done! I am not going to do ALL my pages using Studio J (for my album...because I really do LOVE the craft of it and don't think I can ever trade in my trimmer, stamps and adhesive) but I will have some Studio J pages in my albums. You can mix the two!

One more thing...this last layout of them in the Ice Bar...well we didn't go in there, just they did, I wasn't keen on 17 degree weather for $20 each. I can get that at home for free so I stayed in the 80 degree weather! LOL So I did't have any pictures of my own. So I made Brooke's 3 - 2 page layouts. I journaled them as if she was journaling. BUT, I wanted one of the layouts...so I hit "duplicate" on the computer, it duplicated the layout, I went in and changed the journaling to my words and tada DONE! You just can't make a duplicate that fast unless you are using Studio J!

Caribbean Cruise

We just got back from another AMAZING cruise that I earned through my Close to my Heart business! This time it was to the Eastern Caribbean (we have been on this one before, but it still was fun).

Here is a picture of my front page for my album. I just finished it yesterday and had to post it! It is using our Mayberry kit. The layout is from our Magic How to Book..."Now You See it" layout.

I just love these colors. I didn't think they would work for a Caribbean Cruise but when Close to my Heart sent us our goodie pack with this kit and our special set of stamps...I knew it would work.

Oh, and just in case you missed it...check out our clothes! It's almost like I planned it! LOL That is my son Cody & his girlfriend Brooke, they were lucky enough to have joined us on the cruise.

So, if you have been on (or will be on) a Caribbean Cruise in the near future...remember our Mayberry kit to scrapbook all your layouts!

Fast Easter Basket

Need some cute and easy Easter baskets to make? And, you can use your scrap paper too! Here it is!

First you take your cardstock for your basket...6 x 6. Score at 2 inches all the way around. Snip so you can fold it into a box. Then just decorate the sides and put a handle on. EASY!

For the scallop circles, I took our new 2 inch scallop punch...and punched out 2 per treat, decorate accordingly. Between these scallops are a York Peppermint patty. They stack in the basket perfectly. Perfect gift for a teacher, co-worker or even neighbors.

So it's time to get out that scrap paper and start making these cute baskets!

Mexican Riviera Layouts using Studio J

As promised here are some of my layouts that I created using Studio J for our Mexican Riviera Cruise. I used our Splash Zone kit. It is a members only kit...you really need to look into becoming a member!! The first layout is when we went horseback riding in Zihuatanejo Mexico. It was so much fun.

Then the next layout is in Acapulco of the cliff divers. Boy are those guys crazy! lol And the last layout is of us on our balcony of our cabin. Close to my Heart spoils us with cabins that all have balconies! It is awesome to have room service deliver breakfast (one of our favorite things to do) and have breakfast out on the balcony! Ahhh...talk about total relaxation. If I could only get that at home too! LOL

I really love how these layouts turned out and I am so glad this cruise is scrapbooked! DONE!

I also wanted to share one more thing about Studio J...there is an App for that! YES, Studio J has an app. Just go to the app store and search Studio J...it's free. You can view all our our kits and any layouts that you purchase will be in your app so you can share them with your family and friends. All you need is an iPhone or iTouch. How cool is that!

March Stamp of the Month

Here is our March stamp of the month. It is called Sensational Season. It has these adorable bunnies in them! I created these cards and a cute Easter layout.

I used our Miracle kit for the scrapbook page and the card on the left and our Mayberry kit for the card on the right.

Scallop Circle Punch

Close to my Heart has created this great you tube video using our NEW scallop circle punch (Z1392 $14.95). I am SO excited that we got this punch and have played with it a little. I am also excited about this video because it gives us yet another example of our dimensional elements banners. I just love these!! So take 4 minutes and watch this video to get more ideas to use not only our scallop punch but our dimensional elements banners.
